I have noticed in the present downturned economy that so many people are convinced that things will never work out for them as if someone has stolen their dreams. The truth is they are so used to relying on others to supply them with a purpose in life that that they have lost sight of what really matters to them. They are setting themselves up for a future filled with regret.
It is so common these days to hear people say they "can't" for some reason or another that it is like hearing a choir sing the word. After all, they do have a right to give up, don't they? Everyone knows it is "impossible" to make it in these tough times, just look around, everyone is struggling. So does that make it OK to settle for mediocrity?
I have no problem with people who do not possess the necessary skills to prosper above the average man or woman yet they are content with themselves. What I am referring to is when those who have been blessed with the gifts to overcome adversity and "seize the day" just decide it is too hard and so they just mingle in with the crowd. To me, wasting your God-given abilities is a sin.
We must avoid labeling ourselves as people of lesser abilities just because the challenges appear too great. Telling ourselves it is impossible to overcome a situation that is preventing us from reaching our full potential is as ridiculous as not reaching for a life-preserver because you cannot see the rope it is tied to.
Make a conscious effort from here on in to catch yourself when you about to speak negative words about whom you are and what you are capable of for at least 30 days from the time you read this. Change your habits and you will change your life.
